TV Appearences
The band’s first experience
of TV some years ago (which we vowed never to repeat) was
an appearance on ITVs Big Breakfast Show. It involved
gathering in a street in Wombwell at the crack of dawn in
the rain with TV cameras to surprise the residents with loud
music at an appointed hour. We were then required to
feign enjoyment of a number of games, competitions and snippets
of entertaimnent for the next hour or so.
Our next appearance was somewhat
more professional on the final episode of ITV’s “Where
the Heart Is” . We were in shot for a matter of
seconds but a surprising amount of our music was played
in the background of a country fair scene. It has to
be said that the catering was excellent.
The quality and professionalism
of camera crew and presenters really impressed us on our January
2008 appearance on BBC Breakfast, Look North and the One O’Clock
News. Click to see the press coverage on the news

Our latest appearance was on "News at 10" sports slot in March 2008, following Barnsley's victory against Chelsea in the F.A. Cup. Barnsley was suddenly put on the map and no film footage about the town is complete without an appearance from Dickie Bird and the sound and sight of a Brass Band - we were especially appropriate in our red uniforms. We'll be ready for our next appearance when they win through to the finals!
Barnsley Metropolitan band recently made yet another T.V appearance, but this time under the baton of fashion star Gok Wan! Gok took the band through it's paces outside Barnsley's wonderful Town Hall after a quick lesson from the bands regular conductor Alex Francis. The performance was to introduce 'Gok's Fashion Fix' programme to the heart of South Yorkshire, Barnsley, and what better way to do it than the sound of a brass band. Gok had a great time bantering with the band and even improvised a few cheeky jokes with a few members. The footage will hopefully be aired early June 2010.
