The Barnsley Metropolitan Band is known throughout the Borough for its distinctive red, black and gold uniform and lively entertaining music.

A busy and varied concert schedule is part of life for our members.  It is not unusual for over 30 performances to be undertaken in a year, at local, regional and national events.  Recent activities have even included TV appearances and foreign concert tours.
 
The band is active in organising its own events in the community, including Bandfest, a non competitive festival of band music. 

Membership crosses the generations and includes a good mix of ages currently ranging from 10 – 60.  Young people are encouraged to progress through our affiliated Junior and Intermediate bands and a number of family groups enjoy band membership together.
